ISLAMABAD: National Assembly Speaker Ayaz Sadiq has sought the record of earlier parliamentary committees on PTI’s demand for equal representation in the formation of the electoral reforms committee.

According to sources, the Speaker will review the ratio and method of government and opposition representation in past committees.

The rules and terms of reference (TORs) of earlier electoral reforms committees will also be examined. Precedents of giving the government and the opposition equal representation in the past will be looked for.

Meanwhile, the Chairman of the Senate has sought names from political parties for the electoral reforms committee. The Chairman will send 10 names for the committee to National Assembly Speaker Ayaz Sadiq.

The PPP has finalised the names of its three representatives from the Senate. According to sources, Farooq H Naek, Zameer Ghumro and Shahadat Awan will be the PPP’s nominated members of the committee.
