ISLAMABAD: The political committee of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has issued the statement of its meeting. It says there is no factionalism or division of any kind in the party. According to the statement, the entire party is united behind the leadership, ideology and mission of the PTI founder.

The meeting reviewed the country’s political situation, Inflation and Law and Order. The committee declared that the detention of the Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the Speaker and other parliamentarians is illegal and that they should be released at once. It said that keeping elected representatives in custody insults democratic values and the public mandate.

Health of the PTI founder and Bushra Bibi

The committee voiced concern over reports that the PTI founder and Bushra Bibi had been moved to hospital. It said that moving them to hospital without taking their families into confidence was worrying. The statement demanded immediate implementation of the Supreme Court’s order on the founder’s treatment. It also demanded that his family be kept regularly informed about his health.

The committee demanded that the founder’s family be allowed to meet and visit him. It also demanded proper medical facilities for Bushra Bibi and that she be allowed to meet her family. It condemned the arrest of the founder’s sisters and the treatment given to them, and demanded their immediate release and permission to meet him.

Concerns over arrests and raids

The committee expressed concern over the arrests of MNA Adil Bazai and other party leaders and workers. It demanded the immediate release of all leaders and workers held under the MPO. It condemned the raids and vandalism at the homes of Omar Ayub, Sher Ali Arbab and Shah Ahad. Targeting the homes and families of political opponents was described as condemnable.

The committee said no one should be victimised over political differences. According to the statement, it also expressed concern over the rising incidents of Terrorism in the country. It said protecting the lives and property of citizens is the basic responsibility of the state. Actions against Terrorism should not be used for political revenge.
