PM Shehbaz Sharif welcomes Pakistan’s selection as G24 chair

LAHORE: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has expressed pleasure that Pakistan has been given the chairmanship of the Intergovernmental Group of Twenty-Four (G24). He called it an important diplomatic milestone and a recognition of Pakistan’s effective role on the global economic scene.

According to him, this will further strengthen Pakistan’s effective role and voice in global economic affairs.

The prime minister paid tribute to Finance Minister Senator Muhammad Aurangzeb and the entire Finance Ministry team. He praised their tireless work, effective diplomacy and professional skills.

He said the efforts of the finance minister and his team were commendable. During the annual meetings of the World Bank and the International Monetary Fund, they showed Pakistan’s effective role and won it a prominent place in the economic leadership of developing countries.

According to the prime minister, the G24 chairmanship will give Pakistan an important platform to play an effective role in necessary reforms of the global financial system, fair financial support to tackle climate change, and the promotion of sustainable development opportunities for emerging economies.
