Barrister Salman Safdar meets Imran Khan and Bushra Bibi in Adiala Jail for 40 minutes

RAWALPINDI: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) lawyer Barrister Salman Safdar said on Monday that, after repeated requests, Adiala Jail administration allowed him a 40-minute meeting with PTI founder Imran Khan and his wife Bushra Bibi.

In a post on the social media website X, he said the meeting took place at 4:30pm. According to him, he was able to meet Imran Khan after seven months and Bushra Bibi after 11 months. He wrote: "After repeated requests and appeals, I met Khan sahib after seven months and Bibi after 11 months."

Barrister Safdar said the time was not enough to discuss all the pending cases and legal matters. However, both Imran Khan and Bushra Bibi told him about their health and the conditions of their stay in jail. They also gave him fresh instructions on some cases.

Imran Khan has been held in Adiala Jail since August 2023. After his removal from power in April 2022, a number of cases related to corruption and terrorism were registered against him.

He is currently serving sentences in the Al-Qadir Trust and Toshakhana (Bulgari jewellery set) cases. His sentences in two other Toshakhana references are suspended until appeals are decided.
