NEW DELHI: The Rouse Avenue Court has excused actress and dancer Nora Fatehi from appearing for one day in the Rs2 billion extortion case against alleged accused Sukesh Chandrashekhar. It has ordered her to appear in court on 6 November 2026.

Nora Fatehi had been summoned as a prosecution witness, but she did not attend the hearing. Her lawyers appeared in court. They said the summons reached her at very short notice and that she could not attend because of previously fixed professional engagements. The lawyers sought exemption from personal appearance. The hearing was then adjourned until 6 November and fresh summons were issued. According to reports, Special Judge Gagandeep Singh granted the exemption and directed her to appear on that date to record her statement.

Nora Fatehi’s legal team issued a statement saying she is not an accused and is not charged with any offence in these proceedings. She has been called only as a witness to assist the court.

The Delhi Police Economic Offences Wing (EOW) is investigating the case under the Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA). It is alleged that Sukesh Chandrashekhar, while in Delhi’s Rohini Jail, posed as government officials and extorted about Rs2 billion from Aditi Singh, wife of former Ranbaxy promoter Shivinder Mohan Singh.

During the investigation, Nora Fatehi’s statement was recorded under Section 164 of the Code of Criminal Procedure. She was named as a prosecution witness in the supplementary chargesheet. According to her, she came into contact with Sukesh Chandrashekhar through his wife, Leena Maria Paul.
