MUMBAI: Bollywood actor Tusshar Kapoor allegedly received a telephone call on 3 November demanding Rs50 million in extortion. The caller claimed to be a member of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang.

After the call, the actor approached Mumbai Police. The case has been handed over to the Anti-Extortion Cell and the Crime Branch.

According to reports, the caller said he was Harry or Hari Boxer, who is said to be an alleged member of the Bishnoi gang.

A technical team examined the audio recording of the call. It compared the caller’s voice with available voice samples of Boxer. The initial analysis found a difference between the two voices.

On this basis, police suspect the call may be fake and that someone used the gang’s name to spread fear. Police are now trying to trace the caller.

The incident comes after shots were fired at Tiger Shroff’s vehicle in Juhu, Mumbai, on 18 October. Tiger Shroff was unhurt, but his driver and a passer-by were injured. An alleged associate of the Bishnoi gang had claimed responsibility in an audio message.

Earlier, shots were also fired outside Salman Khan’s house in April 2024. Lawrence Bishnoi’s brother, Anmol Bishnoi, had claimed responsibility for that attack.
