Real issue in tribal areas is minerals, not the constitution: Fazl

The real issue in the tribal areas is not constitutional but the mineral resources there, Maulana Fazlur Rehman has said.

He asked at whose behest the decision on merger was taken in the first place, and at whose signal talk of reversing it is now being heard. “Everyone knows,” he said.

He said the political climate was being spoiled by a campaign of accusations and character assassination. “We are people who hold differing views and believe in dialogue,” he said. He said political talks should be held with him instead of running a publicity campaign against him.

Abusing him and going after his house, kitchen and generator would achieve nothing, he said.
