Shahid Rind denies reports of raid on Chief Minister House as baseless

QUETTA: Shahid Rind, Adviser to the Chief Minister of Balochistan on Information and Political Affairs, has strongly denied the news and rumours circulating on Social Media about a raid on the Chief Minister House. He called them baseless, fabricated and contrary to the facts.
He made it clear that no such incident had taken place and that no raid had been carried out on the Chief Minister House.
In a statement, Shahid Rind said a negative and misleading propaganda campaign was being run in an organised manner on Social Media against Balochistan Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti. He said its aim was to defame the Chief Minister and create an atmosphere of uncertainty and mistrust in the province.
According to him, some elements, unhappy with the government’s performance, were trying to create a wrong impression among the public and damage the government’s standing through false and fabricated reports.
Shahid Rind said anti-state elements were using Social Media for negative propaganda and spreading baseless reports against government institutions and the leadership. However, he said, such attempts to distort facts and mislead the public would not succeed.
The Adviser to the Chief Minister said the National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) had been approached for legal action against those spreading false and fabricated reports on Social Media.
He said strict action would be taken in accordance with the law against those involved in spreading fake news, defamation and the deliberate circulation of misleading information. He said lies, slander and organised defamation could not be allowed under the cover of freedom of expression.
Such elements would have to answer in law for their irresponsible activities, and those running false propaganda would be brought to justice.
