Turbat Model City: road to be widened from Cinema Chowk to Taleemi Chowk
TURBAT: Turbat, one of the important cities of Balochistan, is the district headquarters of Kech and a main city of Makran Division. Traffic pressure is rising steadily because of a fast-growing population, commercial activity and urban expansion.
In these conditions, laying a network of roads and widening existing highways under the Turbat Model City project is an important step towards urban development. Under the project, roads are being built, extended and improved in different parts of the city.
Road from Cinema Chowk to Taleemi Chowk
The plan to widen the road from Cinema Chowk to Taleemi Chowk is particularly important for citizens. Under the Model City project, new shops have been built at Cinema Chowk. The old shops were demolished and moved to new sites. The area has now become a wide road.
It is one of the busiest routes in the city. A large number of cars, motorcycles, rickshaws and pedestrians use it every day. Widening the road is expected to improve the flow of traffic. It may also reduce congestion and travel difficulties during peak hours. Citizens heading to educational institutions, business centres and residential areas are expected to get better travel facilities.
Economic development and long-term planning
In a fast-developing city like Turbat, a better road system is not merely a convenience for travel. It is a basic need for economic, social and urban development. Better roads promote commercial activity, make business centres easier to reach and help to organise city life. Wide, good-quality roads also improve the overall look and beauty of the city and its modern urban identity.
The success of the project should not be limited to building and widening roads. Attention must also be paid to an effective drainage system, footpaths, street lights, traffic signboards, suitable parking spaces and Tree Plantation. Quality material must be used in construction, projects must be completed on time and a permanent system must be set up to maintain them. The convenience of pedestrians, students, the elderly and shopkeepers should also be kept in view during road construction.
Turbat is not only the administrative centre of Kech but also an important centre of Makran’s commercial, educational and social activity. It is therefore a pressing need to plan the city according to modern requirements. If the measures to lay a network of roads and widen highways are completed with effective planning, transparency and quality, they can prove a positive investment in the city’s future.
Development projects are not limited to construction. The government is striving to make Turbat a beautiful, orderly and modern city and to provide citizens with safe, comfortable and good-quality urban facilities.
