Barrister Gohar says political tension must not rise, issues should be resolved through talks

PESHAWAR: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan has said it is strange logic that the chief minister and the speaker are missing. He said political tension should not rise further and problems should be resolved through talks.
Speaking to the media at the Peshawar High Court, Barrister Gohar said he was glad that the court had sent the matter to the chief justice for the formation of a larger bench. He said decisions should be such that they apply equally to everyone.
He said the party’s only demand was for a meeting and medical treatment, but even the court’s order had not been carried out. He said the political victimisation must now end, and that members of the National and provincial assemblies, along with the sisters of the PTI founder, should be released.
Barrister Gohar said a lawyer met the PTI founder the previous day. He said had this meeting taken place earlier, the problem would not have arisen. He said Salman Safdar’s meeting with the PTI founder involved discussion of the cases.
Condemning Barrister Saif’s statement, he said he had not expected him to say such things. The PTI chairman said, “When were we offered a meeting? We are still trying to get a meeting today.”
He said talks should be held with seriousness and in good faith. He said the party had never opposed talks.
