Digital service delivery essential to modern governance, says Dr Rubaba Khan Buledi

QUETTA: Dr Rubaba Khan Buledi, Adviser to the Chief Minister Balochistan on Women Development, has said that digital service delivery is a basic requirement of modern governance. She said it can bring transparency, speed and effectiveness to public services, reduce hardship for the public and strengthen citizens’ trust in government institutions.
She was speaking at the opening workshop on digital service delivery at the Balochistan Civil Services Academy.
She said the promotion of modern Technology and digital systems is especially important in a province like Balochistan, which covers a vast area and has remote populations. It can help take government services to people’s doorsteps, reduce office complications and improve coordination between departments.
Dr Rubaba Khan Buledi said digital governance does not simply mean the use of technology. It is a comprehensive method of reforming the government system, ensuring transparency and accountability, and providing services according to public needs.
Capacity of officers
She said the present age is one of data and modern technology. Government officers must therefore keep building their capacity in modern management skills, digital governance and the use of artificial intelligence, so that government work becomes more effective, faster and people-friendly.
She said the Balochistan government is taking steps to digitise government work and modernise the public service system. The promotion of digital services can reduce the distance between the public and government institutions. By bringing the traditional methods of various departments in line with modern requirements, it will be possible to give citizens timely relief.
She also stressed that the needs of women should be given special importance in planning and providing digital facilities. This would give them easy access to health, education, social protection and other basic government services, and reduce the difficulties faced by women, especially those living in remote areas.
The provincial adviser praised the services of the Balochistan Civil Services Academy. She said the academy is playing an important role in the professional training of government officers, building their administrative capacity and familiarising them with the requirements of modern governance.
She also praised the efforts of Director General of the Balochistan Civil Services Academy Hafeez Jamali. She said the training activities on officer training, the promotion of modern management skills and institutional reforms were commendable. She expressed the hope that the academy would continue its training activities on digital governance, modern Technology and effective public service in future.
Training course
The Balochistan Civil Services Academy, in collaboration with Accountability Lab Pakistan, has begun a three-day training course on digital governance for 30 government officers from provincial departments. The aim of the programme was to improve the performance of government institutions through the effective use of artificial intelligence, digital governance tools and redesign thinking in government work, and to ensure timely, quality services for the public.
Officers attending the workshop were trained in modern digital methods and the practical use of technology in government work.
Dr Rubaba Khan Buledi said the public service system can be made effective only through the use of modern Technology, continuous training of officers and institutional reforms. She said the Balochistan government remains committed to promoting digital initiatives and improving the capacity of government institutions for this purpose.
