NASEERABAD: Executive Engineer of Pat Feeder Canal Shamsul Malik Badini has said that all available resources are being used to improve and increase the supply of irrigation water to growers during the Rabi season.

Water supply situation

Water continues to flow into Pat Feeder Canal from Sindh. The canal is currently receiving 3,500 cusecs, which will markedly ease the water shortage and hardship faced by growers.

He said effective steps were being taken for the fair distribution and supply of irrigation water, in the wider interest of landowners, in light of the special directions of Provincial Minister for Irrigation Mir Muhammad Sadiq Umrani and Provincial Secretary for Irrigation Sohail ur Rehman Baloch.

He said this during a visit to Pat Feeder Canal, where he reviewed the water supply system and spoke to growers. Sub-Divisional Officer Abdul Zahir Mengal was also with him.

Fair distribution and monitoring

Shamsul Malik Badini added that, with the increased supply, irrigation water was being distributed on a fair basis in the Rabi Canal and all sub-branches of Pat Feeder Canal, so that every landowner receives water according to his allotted share.

He said sub-divisional officers were continuously monitoring all arrangements for the distribution and supply of water. He himself was also making surprise visits to various sub-branches to review the water situation, so that there is no room for any irregularity, negligence or lapse in the water distribution system and no grower faces injustice.

In conclusion, he said all possible measures would continue to ensure an uninterrupted, fair and timely supply of irrigation water to landowners during the Rabi season.
