JAFARABAD: On 1 November, on the special directions of Balochistan Provincial Secretary Transport Muhammad Hayat Kakar and PTA Balochistan Secretary Abdul Hameed Junejo, PTA Balochistan, District Police Jafarabad and Traffic Police Jafarabad took action against goods transport vehicles violating traffic laws. The action was taken on the Quetta-Sukkur National Highway at the Sindh-Balochistan border.

Details of the action

During the action, 14 vehicles were fined. The owners and drivers of 10 vehicles were issued warnings.

Vehicles without permits or fitness certificates, vehicles violating their designated routes and those not following other traffic laws were checked. The officials concerned also closely examined the vehicles’ route permits, fitness certificates and other required documents.

The checks found that several vehicles allegedly held fake or unauthentic route permits and fitness certificates. Some permits did not even carry an entry for the route concerned.

According to the officials, such vehicles are not allowed to ply on the route concerned, as violating the conditions of a route permit is against transport laws.

Government revenue and traffic safety

The officials concerned said that the use of fake or unauthentic documents and violation of designated routes not only harm government revenue but also cause unnecessary difficulties for transporters who meet the legal requirements. They added that vehicles running illegally can also create problems for the traffic system and for the safety of passengers and other highway users.

The officials made it clear that checks will continue to ensure compliance with legal rules in the goods transport sector, protect government revenue and improve the traffic system. Action will be taken in accordance with the law against vehicles without permits, with invalid fitness certificates or fake documents, and those violating their designated routes.
