Naseerabad DC makes surprise visit to Dera Murad Jamali trauma centre, orders action on absent staff

NASEERABAD: On learning that a young girl had died in a train accident, Naseerabad Deputy Commissioner Virender Lal made a surprise visit to the trauma centre in Dera Murad Jamali. He reviewed in detail the medical facilities provided there and the attendance of doctors and paramedical staff.
Anger over staff absence
During the visit, the Deputy Commissioner checked the attendance register. He expressed strong displeasure at the absence of doctors and paramedical staff from duty. He directed the officials concerned to take strict legal and departmental action against the absent staff in line with the rules. He said no negligence or carelessness in this matter would be tolerated.
Virender Lal said the trauma centre is a vital medical institution where the injured and patients receive immediate care after accidents and in emergencies. He said doctors, nursing staff and other medical personnel must therefore be present on duty at all times, so that timely treatment can be ensured in any emergency.
He further said that protecting human lives and providing patients with immediate medical care is the basic responsibility of the Health Department. He said the absence of doctors and paramedical staff at a trauma centre was not acceptable under any circumstances, because even a slight delay could cost a precious life.
The Deputy Commissioner directed the medical officials concerned to make staff attendance, emergency services and treatment facilities at the trauma centre more effective. He also directed them to ensure that all doctors and medical staff are present on duty, so that people can receive immediate medical help in difficult and emergency situations.
