Harnai badminton association meets Deputy Commissioner, agrees on district tournament

HARNAI: Efforts to revive sports activities and draw young people towards positive routines are continuing. In this regard, a representative delegation of the Badminton Association, led by its president Fazal Rehman, held an important and detailed meeting with Harnai Deputy Commissioner Arshad Hussain Jamali in his office.

During the meeting, the participants held a comprehensive discussion on promoting badminton at the grassroots level in the district, improving the poor condition of the existing sports halls and courts, and resolving the problems faced by young players. The delegation informed the Deputy Commissioner about the need to repair badminton courts and renovate indoor halls, and about the shortage of quality sports equipment. The Deputy Commissioner assured them that these problems would be resolved on a priority basis.

It was agreed that a comprehensive district badminton tournament would be held soon to encourage a trend of healthy competition among young people, despite the difficult conditions in Harnai.

Speaking to the delegation, Deputy Commissioner Arshad Hussain Jamali said that young people were a valuable asset. He said that keeping them away from negative activities and bringing them to sports grounds was among the district administration’s priorities. He said all positive initiatives of the Badminton Association would be fully supported.

The meeting also expressed the resolve to select and train the best players of Harnai so that they could bring honour to the district in competitions at the Balochistan and national levels.

Association president Fazal Rehman thanked the Harnai Deputy Commissioner for his assurance of support and cooperation for sports. He said such steps would encourage players at the local level and give badminton a new lease of life.
