FIA registers case against 17 passengers for illegal travel to Iraq via Iran

According to the FIA, the passports of 17 passengers were flagged in the IBMS during immigration clearance at Islamabad airport. A check of travel records found the names of all the passengers on the PNIL.

During initial investigation, the suspects disclosed that they had travelled illegally to Iraq via Iran. They said they had paid agent Kamil Hussain Rs120,000 each.

FIA officials said that on reaching Iraq, the Iraqi police arrested the suspects and fined them. They were later deported to Pakistan.

Officials said the role of agent Kamil Hussain and other possible facilitators would be determined during the investigation. The investigation of the case has been handed over to Inspector Muhammad Azeem.

The FIA has vowed to continue action against those involved in illegal immigration and human smuggling.
