HARNAI: A ceremony was held at the DC Complex in Harnai on the occasion of Defence Day of Pakistan. It was chaired by Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) Harnai Muhammad Saleem Tareen. People from various walks of life, police officers and personnel, tribal and political leaders and members of civil society attended in large numbers.

Tribute was paid at the ceremony to the sacrifices of the martyrs of the 1965 war and the bravery of the security forces. Muhammad Saleem Tareen said that 6 September was a shining day in the nation’s history, when the armed forces and the people together foiled the designs of the enemy. He said the sacrifices of the martyrs for the defence of the country, for law and order and for security were a guiding light and could never be forgotten.

District Police Harnai made strict, foolproof security arrangements during the ceremony. A heavy contingent of police remained deployed at sensitive points. At the end, prayers were offered for the security and progress of the country and the nation and for the elevation of the ranks of the martyrs.
