Phased return of Afghan refugees continues in Chagai under Deputy Commissioner

CHAGAI: The dignified, phased return of Afghan refugees is continuing under a joint decision of the governments of Pakistan and Balochistan. Afghan refugees living illegally in different areas of Chagai district are being sent to Afghanistan with full respect.

The Chagai district administration has made arrangements to ensure that the refugees face no difficulty. The process is being carried out in a highly organised manner under the supervision of Deputy Commissioner Chagai Ataul Munim. Special steps have been taken to provide the refugees with temporary shelter, food and drink, medical aid and other basic needs.

Deputy Commissioner Ataul Munim said the Afghan refugees were being sent to their homeland out of full humanitarian sympathy and Islamic brotherhood, and that every individual was being treated with dignity and respect. According to him, arrangements for temporary lodging, food and drink, medical facilities and transport have been made foolproof.

He said that, acting on the government’s directive, “we want this process to be completed peacefully and smoothly”. The local administration, Levies, police and other institutions are working day and night to complete the process smoothly.

Ataul Munim appealed to the local people to cooperate with the administration so that no obstacle arises in the process.

At the transit camp set up at the district level, hundreds of refugees are being provided with facilities every day, and their dignified return is being made possible.
