Price Control drive launched in Barshore; five shopkeepers arrested for defying orders

BARSHORE: On the special directions of Deputy Commissioner Barshore Flight Lieutenant (retd) Khalid Shams, Assistant Commissioner Syed Razi Hurairah has launched a comprehensive and strict public campaign on Price Control in the commercial centres of Barshore city and its surrounding areas.

During the operation, Assistant Commissioner Syed Razi Hurairah made a detailed visit to the market and inspected the official price lists held by shopkeepers.

Taking a sympathetic approach towards traders overall, the administration issued a strict warning on the spot to several shopkeepers who were overcharging or had not displayed price lists. They were told to start following the official prices immediately.

However, five shopkeepers who kept violating the rules and ignored official orders were arrested on the spot.

The administration’s balanced, pro-poor and impartial action is being widely welcomed by citizens and buyers.

Speaking on the occasion, Assistant Commissioner Syed Razi Hurairah said Deputy Commissioner Khalid Shams had given clear directions that no effort should be spared in providing relief to the public.

He said in clear terms that the aim was not to harass the trading community without reason, but to ensure the supply of cheap and good-quality goods to citizens.

He urged traders to put public interest first. Otherwise, he said, stricter legal action would be taken against those who take the law into their own hands even after a warning.
