US House passes resolution to end Iran war

According to the US media, this is the third time the House of Representatives has tried to limit the president’s war powers over the Iran war. Some Republican members supported the resolution along with the Democrats.
The vote was held a few weeks before the midterm elections in November. Democratic members described it as their most important effort so far on the Iran war.
Despite the passage of the resolution, further constitutional and legal steps, including the Senate stage, will be required before it can take effect. Earlier, too, efforts had been made in Congress to limit the president’s powers over the Iran war.
The development comes at a time when the financial cost of the war with Iran is also being discussed in United States Politics.
According to the Congressional Budget Office, the United States had spent about $38 billion on the war by August 2026, and a further rise in spending was expected.
