Iran claims it downed US drone and took control of another in Strait of Hormuz

TEHRAN: Iran’s Revolutionary Guards have claimed that they destroyed a 14th advanced MQ-1 drone in the Strait of Hormuz with an air defence system.
According to the Revolutionary Guards, they took control of a US MQ-170 spy drone in the western part of the Strait of Hormuz and landed it on the ground without any damage.
According to Iranian media, the electronic warfare unit of the Revolutionary Guards Navy seized the drone’s guidance and control system after tracking it.
Iranian officials said the drone’s purpose was to identify Iran’s air defence system along the Persian Gulf coast and in the Strait of Hormuz.
The Revolutionary Guards claim that data obtained from the drone showed it had taken off from a country on the southern coast of the Persian Gulf.
Earlier, the Revolutionary Guards Air Force had also claimed to have shot down an advanced US MQ-1 drone in the Strait of Hormuz with a new air defence system.
