War on Iran has cost European citizens over 100 billion euros, says Spanish PM

BRUSSELS: Spain has said the war on Iran has so far cost European citizens more than 100 billion euros, and that its economic effects are weighing heavily on ordinary people.
According to British television, Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez said in a video message on X that European leaders who opposed the war were right and had made the correct decision by saying no to it. He said he knew that ordinary people would ultimately have to pay the price of this war.
Speaking at a press conference in Brussels after a European Council meeting, he said the stance of those who opposed the war had been proved right. He said this was confirmed not only in terms of respect for international law and human rights, but also by the economic and social effects of the war, which citizens were once again facing.
He added that the Spanish parliament had approved an aid package of more than 12 billion euros, aimed at helping the affected sectors and citizens who use their own vehicles.
The Spanish prime minister stressed that the most important thing now was to end the devastation as soon as possible.
