Sibi commissioner inaugurates anti-polio drive across division
SIBI: Sibi Division Commissioner Irfanullah Khan formally inaugurated the anti-polio campaign across the division by administering polio drops to children. Sibi Deputy Commissioner Major (retd) Ilyas Kabzai also gave polio drops to children and took part in the launch of the campaign.
Speaking on the occasion, Commissioner Irfanullah Khan said a target had been set of administering polio drops to about 142,000 children in total during the campaign in the three Districts of Sibi Division: Sibi, Kachhi and South Dera Bugti.
The campaign will continue in 64 union councils of the division. Health teams will go door to door and give polio drops to children up to the age of five.
The commissioner appealed to ulema, tribal elders, parents and all sections of society to play their full part in making the anti-polio campaign a success. He urged them to ensure that all their children up to the age of five are given polio drops.
He said the eradication of polio is the shared responsibility of all and that protecting every child from polio is a national duty.
The commissioner added that the best security arrangements will be made during the campaign to protect the polio teams and to help them carry out their duties effectively. This, he said, would allow the campaign to continue without interruption in all areas and achieve the set target.
In line with the vision of the Chief Minister of Balochistan, making the anti-polio campaign effective and successful, for a polio-free Balochistan and a healthy future, is among the priorities of the Balochistan government.
