Israel’s security doctrine map shows Pakistan, Turkey, Saudi Arabia as ‘Sunni Diamond Alliance’

JERUSALEM: The office of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Sunday published a new national security doctrine, nine days before the general election. The document was prepared with the help of Israel’s National Security Council. According to BBC Urdu, a map released with it shows the countries of the region as allies and rivals.
The policy gives priority to deterrence and pre-emptive strikes rather than reliance on defence, and to keeping threats limited. Pre-emptive military action and “buffer zones” on the border have formally been made part of national security policy. Self-reliance in arms and ammunition, superiority in advanced technology and a stepped-up fight against anti-Semitism are also among the goals.
The map shows Israel and the United Arab Emirates as part of a “Hexagon Alliance”, which also includes Greece, Ethiopia and parts of India. Egypt and Jordan are not shown as Israeli allies. Egypt is shown as part of the “Sunni Diamond Alliance” of Pakistan, Turkey and Saudi Arabia, while Jordan is shown as its friend. Only Pakistan, Turkey and Saudi Arabia are currently members of the Mecca alliance.
Opposition leader Gadi Eisenkot called the doctrine “hollow” and asked why it was presented nine days before the election. According to former prime minister Yair Lapid, the document is not a real strategy. Both leaders allege that its purpose is to conceal the failure to prevent the 7 October attack.
Meanwhile, DG ISPR Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry told Independent Arabia that Pakistan is providing Saudi Arabia with the necessary military support, and that under the Mecca agreement any aggression against member states will be met with a collective response.
