NASEERABAD: On the directions of Naseerabad Deputy Commissioner Varindar Lal, Tehsildar Dera Murad Jamali Moazzam Jatoi carried out a detailed inspection of the offices of several non-governmental organisations (NGOs) working in the district. He was accompanied by Younus Raza Umrani of the DC Office Naseerabad. The offices inspected include those of BRSP, Indus Hospital, TKF, Islamic Relief, Manzil Organisation and Bright Star.

During the inspection, the overall performance of each organisation was reviewed. The officials also looked at the nature of ongoing and completed projects, practical steps for public welfare, the facilities provided and their benefits. Staff attendance, professional qualifications, the division of responsibilities, and the availability and accuracy of records in the offices were also checked.

The officials also closely examined the legal status of NOCs, registration requirements and compliance with government policies and directions. Heads of the organisations briefed them on the progress of ongoing projects, the use of funds and the problems they face. They were directed to carry out all activities in line with government rules and the principles of transparency and accountability.

Review of appointments of non-local employees

The appointments of non-local employees were reviewed in particular, so that local people get job opportunities on a priority basis. The officials made it clear that protecting the rights of local people is the district administration’s first priority and that injustice to them will not be tolerated at any level. They stressed merit, transparency and adherence to the local quota in recruitment.

All NGOs were directed to share regular reports of their activities with the district administration so that their performance can be monitored continuously. The officials said the district administration would ensure effective coordination and cooperation with NGOs, so that public welfare projects are completed better and their benefits reach the people directly.
