Mecca defence pact to go before Turkish parliament soon, says Erdogan

ANKARA (Atemad Desk): Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has said work is under way to turn the joint defence cooperation between Turkiye, Pakistan and Saudi Arabia into an effective and permanent institutional system. He said preparations are being made to present the Mecca defence agreement to the Turkish parliament in the coming days for domestic approval.

Addressing a ceremony, he condemned the Houthi attacks on Saudi Arabia. He prayed for forgiveness for those who lost their lives and for the speedy recovery of the injured. He said Turkiye stood with the Saudi government and people in this difficult hour.

Erdogan said the Houthi actions against Saudi Arabia were unacceptable. He said Turkiye wanted peace and stability across the region and would continue its efforts, through regional leadership, to defend and establish peace.
