QUETTA: Balochistan Investment Board Vice Chairman Bilal Khan Kakar has said that effective steps are being taken to empower women in the province’s rural areas in business, in line with the vision of Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti.

In this regard, the board will hold a special event on 15 October to train and inform rural women about business. Women from remote areas across Balochistan will be invited. He said this while chairing a meeting on preparations for the event. CEO Abdul Manan, Social Innovation Academy representative Rozina Kakar and other officials attended.

Bilal Khan Kakar said it was an important need of the time to highlight the business skills of rural women, introduce them to modern business methods and give them opportunities to turn their resources into effective sources of income. Rural women can use their skills in handicrafts, agriculture, livestock, food processing, cottage industry, tourism and other fields. In this way, they can improve the economic condition of their families and also play a significant role in promoting the local economy.

He said the board was taking practical steps to give women information about business opportunities, investment prospects, access to markets and business promotion. The aim of the proposed event is to give rural women a platform where they can seek guidance from experts and also present their business ideas and problems.

According to the vice chairman, bringing talented women from remote areas into economic activity is essential for the overall development and prosperity of the province. He said the board would continue to play its role in increasing women’s business capacity and making them economically independent.
