SIBI: A meeting on the anti-polio campaign was held under the chairmanship of Sibi Deputy Commissioner Major (retd) Ilyas Kakazai. Officers and representatives of the Health Department, the World Health Organization (WHO), ISD, Aga Khan University and other relevant bodies attended.

Health Department officials gave a detailed briefing on arrangements for the upcoming anti-polio campaign, the formation of teams, the set targets and the steps to be taken during the drive.

The meeting was told that the campaign has set a target of giving polio drops to 43,192 children in Sibi district. A total of 225 mobile teams, 46 fixed sites and 22 transit teams will serve for this purpose.

Directives and monitoring

Addressing the meeting, Deputy Commissioner Major (retd) Ilyas Kakazai said all relevant bodies and staff must perform their duties with full dedication, hard work and responsibility to make the campaign a success.

He directed that same-day coverage be ensured at all costs so that no child is left without polio drops. He further directed that all vaccinators be present on time in their assigned union councils and carry out their duties in the field with full attention.

Monitors from line departments should keep a strict watch on the performance of the teams during the campaign, ensure field visits and report immediately any lapse or negligence.

The Deputy Commissioner said the eradication of polio is the shared responsibility of all. He said no negligence in this national duty would be tolerated. All relevant departments should work through mutual coordination and an effective strategy so that the set target can be achieved in full, he added.

He urged representatives of the Health Department, WHO, ISD, Aga Khan University and other relevant bodies to use all their abilities for the success of the campaign and to resolve problems faced by teams in the field at once.

In line with the vision of the Chief Minister of Balochistan, making the anti-polio campaign a success is among the top priorities of the Balochistan government, for a polio-free Balochistan and a safe and healthy future for children.
