PANJGUR: An important meeting of the District Education Group was held on Friday under the chairmanship of Panjgur Deputy Commissioner Abdul Kabeer Zarkoon.

The District Education Officer (RTSM), other officers of the Education Department concerned, and representatives of the Balochistan Rural Support Programme (BRSP), the Benazir Income Support Programme and the Panjgur Treasury attended the meeting. Its main purpose was to review steps to make the education system in the district more active and effective.

The meeting stressed that strict action would be taken against all chronically absent teachers and that no leniency would be shown to them.

The district administration agreed that a zero-tolerance policy would be adopted in the education sector. It said strict action would be taken against the officers concerned if negligence or failure was found at any level.

At the end of the meeting, the Deputy Commissioner directed the District Education Officer and the RTSM to ensure daily visits to schools. He also told them to promote mutual cooperation and coordination during the visits so that the standard of education could improve.
