ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has said there are opportunities to increase trade between Pakistan and Japan. He said that, to benefit from them, the private sector and Pakistanis living in Japan should play a role along with government efforts.

Speaking to a private television channel, the Prime Minister said Pakistan attaches great importance to its relations with Japan. He said Pakistanis living in Japan can play an important role in strengthening bilateral relations and promoting trade cooperation.

On the import of vehicles, the Prime Minister said the government had opened the way for people to get better vehicles by allowing the commercial import of quality vehicles. To ensure quality, inspection in the exporting country and verification in Pakistan have been made mandatory, so that people can get high-quality vehicles at a reasonable price.

Calling young people a valuable asset of Pakistan, the Prime Minister said that, through higher education, skills and hard work, they should contribute to national progress and prosperity as well as their own success.

On the economic situation, the Prime Minister said that, despite global difficulties, the government was striving to steer the economy towards improvement. He said the government was aware of the hardships faced by the people, which was why a subsidy was being provided on fuel.

Efforts are also continuing in the Health sector so that people can get quality treatment free of charge.
