Iranian foreign minister warns Germany’s chancellor of heavy cost to Europe if Iran is attacked

TEHRAN: Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has warned of a devastating response, after the German chancellor complained about Europe’s energy costs.
In a statement, he cautioned that in the event of any new attack, Europe could pay a far heavier price than higher energy costs.
German Chancellor Friedrich Merz had said that the war against Iran had raised Europe’s energy costs by more than 100 billion euros.
In a post on the social media website X, the Iranian foreign minister recalled that last June Chancellor Merz had welcomed the US and Israeli attacks on Iran, saying that Israel was doing the “dirty work” for all of us.
Abbas Araghchi wrote that 100 billion euros was nothing compared with the devastating blow that Iran’s powerful armed forces would deliver to those who dared to harm its people. He said red lines were now a thing of the past.
