Oil tanker hit by mine and destroyed in Strait of Hormuz, claims Revolutionary Guards

TEHRAN: An oil tanker was destroyed after it hit a mine in the Strait of Hormuz. According to a foreign news agency, Iran’s Revolutionary Guards said the tanker had taken an unauthorised route to pass through the Strait of Hormuz.

The Revolutionary Guards say the tanker allegedly ignored a warning.

It may be recalled that amid the ongoing tension between the United States and Iran, there have been reports of several oil tankers being damaged or catching fire in and around the Strait of Hormuz.
