QESHM, Iran: Ahmad Nafisi, Deputy Governor of Hormozgan for Political, Security and Social Affairs, has said that two fishing boats were targeted at sea near Qeshm island, after which two men went missing.

According to him, the incident took place at about 11:30am on Saturday, around 18 miles from the village of Masan in Qeshm County. There were two people on each boat.

Nafisi said that after the incident, two of the four men were taken to Qeshm island. One of them, who was injured, was taken to hospital for treatment. A rescue and search operation was launched to find the other two.

He said the relevant institutions were following up on the incident and that further details would be released once confirmed and accurate information was available.

Later, the Hormozgan Governorate announced that both missing fishermen had been found safe after a search and rescue operation. Iranian officials have described the attack as the action of a US drone.
