Governor’s rule in KP last option, PTI will not be allowed to march on Islamabad: Khawaja Asif

ISLAMABAD (Etemad Desk): Defence Minister Khawaja Asif has said that governor’s rule in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa is the last option and the government is trying to avoid going down that road. However, he said, the capital cannot be left at the mercy of the PTI.
Speaking to Dunya News, he said the PTI would not be allowed to march on Islamabad together with the Taliban. He said protecting Islamabad was the government’s duty.
The defence minister said only time would tell whether the PTI would become a political martyr in the event of governor’s rule. But, he said, breaking up the country to please one person was not acceptable.
Khawaja Asif said that, God forbid, a break-away from the leadership of the KP government could also be expected. He said differences within the PTI had grown, and the party’s own people also wanted to see a way out of the crisis.
