Governor meets Pervez Khattak in Nowshera, discusses resolving issues with Centre

NOWSHERA: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor Faisal Karim Kundi met former chief minister and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s Adviser on Interior Pervez Khattak.

Speaking to the media, the governor said Pervez Khattak had played a long innings in politics and, during his tenure, worked with the opposition for the development of the province.

Faisal Karim Kundi said the aim was to take the province forward through mutual consultation and to work for its development. He said the purpose of meetings with various political leaders was to find ways to resolve issues with the Centre, and that they would work with the Centre on one page.

The governor said a historic meeting of the Apex Committee was held in Peshawar. He said the prime minister heard various issues during his visit to Peshawar and also took steps to resolve them.

Speaking to the media, Pervez Khattak said he had long-standing relations with Faisal Karim Kundi and that the problems of the province were discussed in detail. He said the work begun during his own tenure had to be carried forward.

Khattak said he was still independent and did not intend to join any other political party.

He said the decision to impose governor’s rule was difficult and such a decision was not good politically. He said circumstances were created in which governor’s rule had to be imposed out of compulsion. He added that it would never have happened if there had been anyone in the PTI who could think and understand.

Pervez Khattak said the PTI wanted to follow and support the Taliban and Afghanistan.
