Details emerge of Inam Butt’s positive dope test

Sources say Inam Butt used an eye medicine and did not disclose it before the test at the Asian Beach Games.

Sources said Inam Butt’s dope test came back positive and that he was issued a notice in May. Inam Butt submitted all his eye tests, scans and a list of his medicines. After the eye medicine, tests and scans, his condition was accepted.

Sources said the International Testing Agency (ITA) later tested Inam Butt again and reviewed the case. The full list of medicines was also provided to the ITA. The athlete has also been allowed to use the medicines.

According to sources, the dope test showed a very small amount of a banned substance. The substance was not performance-enhancing and was for treatment. Action is likely against Inam Butt for not disclosing it before the test.

According to sources, Inam Butt’s correspondence with the relevant authorities is continuing. Inam Butt will not go for the B sample. However, he may take the matter to the Court of Arbitration for Sport if needed.
