Mohsin Naqvi tells Senate JUI-F sought governor’s rule in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa

ISLAMABAD: Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi claimed in a noisy Senate session on Wednesday that JUI-F leaders had in the past asked the government to impose governor’s rule in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. He made the remarks while addressing PTI senators present in the House.
Naming Barrister Ali Zafar, Mohsin Naqvi said these were the same people who used to come to the government before governor’s rule and ask it to impose governor’s rule and rid them of “these people”. He was pointing towards JUI-F.
JUI-F members, including Senator Kamran Murtaza, protested against his statement. The chair repeatedly asked members to avoid noise and let the interior minister finish his speech.
The interior minister was responding to a statement made a day earlier by JUI-F chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman, which also referred to the purpose of the interior minister’s visit to Iran. Mohsin Naqvi rejected the impression that Pakistani officials had gone to Iran to discuss a defence agreement. According to him, the visit was to deal with the ongoing crisis in the region.
