Goods transporters demand end to repeated diesel price increases

Association president Muhammad Awais Chaudhry said the direct burden of costlier diesel falls on transporters and the public. He said it also affects freight rates, industry and trade.
He demanded an immediate review of the taxes and duties imposed on diesel so that transporters could get some relief from rising costs.
Muhammad Awais Chaudhry said the prices of petroleum products should be reviewed every 15 days. He said a 15-day pricing system should be introduced instead of daily changes in prices.
The president of the All Pakistan Goods Transport Owners Association said stable diesel prices would not only support the transport sector but could also help reduce inflation.
