Hockey federation calls trials camp in Islamabad on 30 October for Sultan Azlan Shah Cup

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Hockey Federation has drawn up a comprehensive strategy to prepare the national team for the Sultan Azlan Shah Hockey Cup, to be played in Ipoh, Malaysia, from 20 November 2026 to 28 November 2026.

To prepare for the tournament and ensure transparent selection of the final squad, under-18, junior and senior players from across the country have been invited to Nasir Bunda Hockey Stadium, Islamabad, on 30 October.

Three pools of talented players will be formed from the camp. Players of all three formats will be divided into pools, and their technical abilities will be assessed before selection.

According to federation officials, this is the first time in the history of Pakistan hockey that talent is being given an opportunity on such a large scale. All capable players across the country will get the chance to take part in this training camp. The aim of the camp is to give emerging young players an equal and uniform platform to show their abilities at senior level.

During the camp, the physical fitness, technical skills and game strategies of all players will be closely examined. The final national hockey team for the Sultan Azlan Shah Cup will then be chosen on merit.

Pakistan Hockey Federation reaffirmed its resolve to ensure merit and transparency and to form a balanced team that can bring honour to the country and the nation at the international level.
