Abhijeet Bhattacharya objects to lip-syncing at live shows, backs Uttarakhand minister

Mumbai: Indian singer Abhijeet Bhattacharya has indirectly joined the debate over Daler Mehndi’s controversial concert in Uttarakhand, opposing lip-syncing during live performances.
According to a Mid-Day report of 4 November 2026, Abhijeet said this during a recent performance in Chhattisgarh. He did not name Daler Mehndi.
He told the audience not to accept artists who pretend to sing on stage. He also assured them that he would never pretend to sing on stage himself.
Referring to the recent incident involving Uttarakhand Cabinet Minister Subodh Uniyal, Abhijeet said the minister had spoken the truth, but was later portrayed as the villain.
