WASHINGTON: The US military has begun completing its preparations in view of a possible decision to resume large-scale military operations against Iran. To this end, further military resources and equipment are being readied for deployment to the Middle East. The news emerged online on 5 November 2026.

The US news website Axios, citing American officials, reported that the Pentagon has instructed the US military to remain ready for possible operations against Iran. These preparations include the deployment of additional military assets in the region.

According to the report, this development does not mean that President Donald Trump has taken a final decision to restart the war with Iran. However, the US military is completing its readiness for any possible operation so that it can act immediately if ordered to do so.

Axios wrote that if operations resume, they could include large-scale air strikes. Possible targets may include Iran’s nuclear facilities, energy centres and key infrastructure. The report also suggested that the Israeli military could take part in any such operation.

At present, all of these matters remain possibilities, and no formal announcement of any new military operation has been made by the US leadership. The preparations come at a time when tensions between Iran and the United States persist, while efforts to resolve the dispute through diplomatic channels are also continuing. The military preparations have raised concerns that tensions in the region could escalate.
