Encroachments removed from Mizan Chowk and Liaqat Bazaar in Quetta’s Zarghoon Zone

QUETTA: Metropolitan Corporation Quetta is continuing its anti-encroachment operations on the special directions of Chief Minister Balochistan Mir Sarfraz Ahmed Bugti. The drive is part of his vision of making Quetta a clean, orderly and attractive city where citizens can move easily.
Under a monitoring system set up by Metropolitan Corporation Administrator Bashir Ahmed Barech, a team led by Zarghoon Zone In-charge Nihal Din Bugti carried out the operation. It covered Iqbal Road up to Mizan Chowk, Prince Road, Liaqat Bazaar, Fatima Jinnah Road and Masjid Road, as well as main markets, commercial centres and streets.
During the operation, encroachments and goods obstructing roads, footpaths and public passages were removed. This improved pedestrian movement and the flow of traffic. Hotel owners, shopkeepers and traders were warned that strict action would be taken under the law, without discrimination, if they set up encroachments again.
According to Metropolitan Corporation, the aim of these operations is not to cause difficulty for any individual or business community. It is to improve the flow of traffic and civic discipline and to make Quetta a clean, attractive and orderly urban centre.
