DUKI: A monthly review meeting (MRM) of the Pakistan Public Health Initiative (PPHI) Duki was held under the chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner Fazal-ur-Rehman Kabdani. The meeting reviewed in detail the performance of health centres across the district, medical facilities and the implementation of various health programmes.

District Manager PPHI Qahir Khan Durrani, ADM Raz Muhammad Nasir, N-STOP Officer Dr Aziz Kakar, Dr Abdullah Jan, CCO Saeed Ahmed and other officers and officials concerned attended the meeting.

Briefing on performance of health centres

The meeting reviewed in detail the overall performance of the health centres run by PPHI across the district. It also looked at the attendance of medical staff, availability of medicines, medical equipment, facilities provided to patients, cleanliness and the implementation of ongoing health programmes.

District Manager PPHI Qahir Khan Durrani presented the monthly performance report. He gave the Deputy Commissioner a detailed briefing on the performance of the health centres, targets achieved, problems faced and the future plan of action. He also informed the meeting about the facilities available at various health centres and the medical services provided to the public.

Directives of the Deputy Commissioner

Addressing the meeting, Deputy Commissioner Fazal-ur-Rehman Kabdani directed that medicines, essential medical equipment, doctors, paramedical staff and other basic facilities be made available at all basic health units in the district without fail. He said this was needed so that people in remote areas could get quality medical care at their doorstep.

He said there was no room for negligence or laxity in the public health sector. He said providing timely, quality and effective medical facilities to the public was among the district administration’s key priorities. He made it clear that no negligence would be tolerated in government health centres, whether absence of staff, unavailability of medicines or failure to provide facilities to patients.

The Deputy Commissioner directed the officials concerned to monitor the performance of health centres regularly and to prepare and submit performance reports every month. He also directed them to pay special attention to achieving the targets of ongoing health programmes, patients’ convenience and better arrangements for cleanliness at health centres.

He said effective coordination and a joint strategy among all the institutions concerned were necessary to improve the health sector. He asked PPHI and Health Department officers to continue taking practical steps, in cooperation with each other, to provide better medical facilities to the public. At the end of the meeting, a number of necessary directives were issued to improve the performance of health centres in the district further and to provide quality medical facilities to the public.
