Rashid Khan becomes first bowler to take 200 wickets in T20 Internationals

SHARJAH: Afghanistan leg-spinner Rashid Khan has become the first bowler to take 200 wickets in men’s T20 Internationals. He reached the milestone in the second T20 against Zimbabwe at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium.
Rashid’s 200th wicket was Zimbabwe wicketkeeper-batter Tadiwanashe Marumani, who was out for just 2 runs. Zimbabwe were chasing a target of 222 at the time.
Rashid made his debut in international cricket against Zimbabwe in October 2015. In September 2025, in a match of the tri-series against the UAE in Sharjah, he overtook New Zealand’s Tim Southee to become the most successful bowler in T20 Internationals. His latest feat has extended his lead further.
It is reported that he reached the target in his 120th T20 match. His bowling average is 13.99 and his economy rate is 6.12.
In the match, four Afghanistan batters were out for just 5 runs, but the team scored 221 for 7. Azmatullah Omarzai made 116 off 50 balls, including five fours and 12 sixes. He added 142 runs for the sixth wicket with Ijaz Ahmad Ahmadzai, who scored 52 off 27 balls. Rashid Khan remained not out on 25 off 6 balls.
Zimbabwe captain Sikandar Raza scored his second T20 century, but his team fell 19 runs short of the target. Afghanistan have won eight T20 series in a row against Zimbabwe.
