Balochistan Food Authority fines 3 stores and a bakery on Loralai’s Zhob Road

LORALAI: On the directions of the Chief Minister Balochistan, the Loralai Zone food safety team of the Balochistan Food Authority inspected several food outlets in detail on Zhob Road. The inspection was part of a special campaign against the sale of unlabelled and untraceable formula milk for infants.
During the action, three general stores and a bakery were fined for violating food safety laws. Corrective notices were issued to six food units. Unlabelled and untraceable formula milk, expired spices and non-food-grade colours were seized from the general stores. Poor storage and hygiene problems were also found at several outlets.
The bakery was acted against for using printed paper to pack ready-made items, for not stating manufacturing and expiry dates, for poor personal and environmental hygiene, and for failing to protect prepared food from flies and other contamination.
The food safety team directed the owners of the businesses to comply fully with the rules on food safety, labelling, traceability, storage and hygiene. It made clear that action against violators would continue in order to ensure the supply of safe and standard food.
