BFA inspects 18 food units in Loralai, fines seven

LORALAI: A food safety team of the Balochistan Food Authority (BFA), led by a deputy director, took action against various food businesses at Kathwai Mor on Quetta Road and inspected 18 food units. Seven units were fined for violations of the law, while six were served improvement notices.
The team inspected general stores, bakeries, and meat, vegetable, fruit and milk shops. Action was taken at several general stores over expired spices, banned Chinese salt and gutka, and poor storage.
At some bakeries and food points, the team found poor cleanliness, failure to follow personal hygiene rules, dirty utensils, flies on food items, food left uncovered and the absence of a BFA licence, among other violations. Action was taken against them according to the rules.
The food safety team directed the businessmen to follow the BFA’s prescribed SOPs strictly, improve standards of cleanliness and hygiene, and pay special attention to the quality and safe storage of goods. The team made it clear that action against violators would continue without discrimination to ensure the public gets quality and safe food.
