LORALAI: The zonal food safety team of the Balochistan Food Authority (BFA), led by Deputy Director Muhammad Ghani, inspected 13 food units on Quetta Road near the Loralai Sessions Court. Three units were fined and four were issued improvement notices for violating food safety laws.

The team reviewed the quality and expiry of food items, storage methods, cleanliness and the personal hygiene of workers at general stores and baking units. Expired spices, biscuits and toffees were recovered from two general stores. Action was also taken over poor and improper storage.

At one baking unit, the team found several violations. These included an uncovered waste bin, poor cleanliness arrangements, improper storage, no manufacturing and expiry dates on items, and breaches of worker hygiene rules. The unit was fined.

Officials said there would be no compromise on providing safe and quality food to the public. They said action against violators would continue without discrimination. They added that monitoring and surprise inspections of food business units would continue in different areas.
