Sanjawi AC raids BIISP centre, warns of strict action over illegal deductions

SANJAWI: Assistant Commissioner Sanjawi Marman Kakar has said that no one will be allowed to deprive eligible women of their rights or harass them. He said strict legal and departmental action would be taken against those making illegal deductions from Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP) payments.
According to details, the Assistant Commissioner made a surprise visit to the BISP payment centre after receiving several complaints from eligible women about the collection of excess money and illegal deductions. He reviewed in detail the arrangements at the site, the payment process and the facilities provided to beneficiaries.
Meeting eligible women one by one
During the visit, the Assistant Commissioner met the eligible women at the centre one by one and listened to their problems. He obtained detailed information about the payment procedure, receipt of money, the conduct of staff and the facilities provided. He assured the women that the financial assistance provided by the government was their right and that any shortfall or injustice in it would not be tolerated.
The Assistant Commissioner strictly directed the officials concerned to pay every eligible woman her full assistance amount without any deduction, delay or obstruction. He said it was the duty of every official to treat women with dignity, respect and courtesy.
He made it clear that no one would be allowed to usurp the rights of the poor and eligible. He said that if a complaint against any person, agent or official of collecting excess money, making illegal deductions, exploiting beneficiaries or harassing women was proved true, strict legal and administrative action would be taken and no one would be shown leniency.
Directions on transparency and basic facilities
The Assistant Commissioner directed that transparency, discipline, a clean environment, proper seating for women, clean drinking water and other basic facilities be ensured at the BISP centre in every case, so that eligible women face no difficulty.
He said public service, transparency, accountability and protecting the rights of eligible people were the top priorities of the district administration.
