QUETTA: An awareness rally and a cake-cutting ceremony were held for Traffic Week to raise public awareness of traffic laws. They were organised on the orders of Balochistan Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti and the directions of Quetta Deputy Commissioner Meharullah Badini.
The rally was led by Assistant Commissioner (Saddar) Muhammad Yousuf Hashmi, the SP Saddar Quetta and the SPs of the traffic police.
On the occasion, participants stressed the importance of obeying traffic laws, using helmets and seat belts, keeping to the speed limit and taking precautions while driving.
The officers said that raising public awareness of traffic laws was an urgent need to prevent road accidents, keep traffic flowing and protect citizens. They said the district administration and police were playing their role jointly for this purpose.
At the end of the ceremony, a cake was cut to mark Traffic Week. The participants pledged that awareness campaigns and practical measures would continue to make citizens follow traffic laws, prevent accidents and provide a safe environment for travel.
