GWADAR: Under the provincial government’s fishermen-friendly policy, the provision of facilities to fishermen has been speeded up in Pishukan and nearby areas. Boats are being registered, inspected and measured, and steps are being taken to issue fishing licences.

On the directions of DG Fisheries Atiqullah Khan, field teams under the supervision of Assistant Director Fisheries Noor-ud-Din Hasni are inspecting boats. They are checking each boat’s build, size, engine and required documents. After inspection and verification, registration numbers will be issued to eligible boats. Licences are being issued to eligible fishermen under the prescribed rules.

The Fisheries Department has appealed to fishermen to complete the registration and inspection of their boats within the given period. According to the department, its priority is to provide fishermen with facilities, transparency and ease. It said legal registration and licensing would make the fishing sector better organised, and that the interests of local fishermen were being protected through fishermen-friendly measures.
